This didn't take long

I remember seeing War Of The Worlds when I was a child. If I remember correctly I watched it after my father taped it on our newly acquired VCR. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although in hindsight, I'm not sure whether it was the movie, or the memory of watching it with my dad. When I heard that Steven Spielberg was doing a remake, I thought to myself, "cool" (yeah, not the most original response, I know). Then I heard that Tom Cuise was going to be the star..............my excitement diminished somewhat at that point, but I was still optimistic. But, as EVERYONE knows, Tom Cruise has really gone off the deep end recently. As a result, I now have absolutely no desire to see the movie. I'm not the only one that thinks Tom Cruise is a few floats short of a parade, so I'm not surprised that this site came into being.

I thought MY water bill was high this month.....

From CNN.com

MASCOUTAH, Illinois (AP) -- It has been a hot, dry summer in this St. Louis suburb, but Rose Mary Cook knew there was no way she could have used $74,000 worth of water.
The city's utility department claimed Cook used 10 million gallons of water last month, charging her $29,787 for water, $43,581 for sewer, plus $893 for municipal tax.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?

Why is it that some people in an office seem to talk louder than others? My office is not made up of traditional cubicles. Instead we have "workstations" (translation: we don't have fabric covered walls to shield us from the non-stop, and dare I say rather annoying, banter from those sitting around us). I hear more random conversations during an average work day than any one person should! I am forced to listen to conversations covering the most bizarre and intellectually deficient topics known to man! Fortunately, I've found comfort in the miracle that is my iPOD. Thank you Steve Jobs!

Arizona School Will Not Use Textbooks

I just saw this posted on Digg.com. I remember seeing posters of the "Classroom of the Future" in school when I was growing up, guess this is the closest thing we have today.

Podcasting and iTunes

Ok, so podcasting isn't entirely new. But in the event you DON'T know what it is..............well, I don't know what to say. If you've been out of the loop and want to see what the buzz is all about, check out the links above for more info and then download iTunes 4.9. Apple has brought (or at least HOPES to bring) podcasting to the mainstream by adding podcasting to the latest version of iTunes. Some of my favorite podcasts are This Week In Tech, Diggnation and Le Show with Harry Shearer. If you would rather use another application, you may want to try iPodder. There is a wide variety of podcasts available and don't let the name fool you, an iPod is NOT required. You can simply listen on your PC or the MP3 player of your choice.

Barry Eisler book signing

Another year and another entry by Barry Eisler in his John Rain series. As usual, the book signing was held at Murder By The Book, here in Houston. I haven't had a chance to read his latest novel, Killing Rain but if it's as good as the first three, I doubt I'll be disappointed.

Welcome World (or whoever may actually see this)

This is my first attempt at a blog. At this point, I'm not really sure what I'm going to blog about, but I am sure something will come up.
